Welcome back! But this is not just another school year…this is your child’s final year of elementary school! Before we begin, I hope the following letter allows you to get to know me a little better before we formally meet.
July 20, 2015
Dear Parent/Guardian,
I would like to introduce myself as we begin another school year at Camarena Elementary School. Originally, I am from Westchester County, NY, and moved to San Diego in 2002. I currently live in Eastern Chula Vista with my husband, Andrew, our three children (Leah, 5, Elias, 3, and Elsa, 1), and our dog, Diesel. My desire to teach began with my life-long passion for soccer and coaching. After working in various industries including fine-dining, personal training, and even event planning, I pursued my teaching credential at SDSU in 2005 and have been teaching 6th grade in the Chula Vista Elementary School District ever since. In May, I finally obtained my Masters Degree in Exercise Science through Syracuse University.
Your child’s final year in elementary school is a special grade level filled with challenging coursework and memorable events as he/she prepares for middle school. I look forward to working together to make this year successful on many levels. While your child’s education is of the utmost importance, I also value your child’s character and self-confidence, and look forward to seeing your child grow this year. Please feel comfortable to speak with me regarding any questions or concerns you may have. Commucation between teacher and parent is crucial in helping your child reach his/her potential. Typically, the best way to reach me is by email (see below). While I try to respond to emails as soon as possible, please allow up to 24 hours. Additionally, please notify me 24 hours ahead of time to schedule a meeting to discuss any concerns.
Looking forward to a fabulous year together!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Lisa Mendoza
